Under 21s Taste Defeat

There was little to please with the performance of Hyde 21s this week as we visited Atherton. The lads really did not get out of the blocks and struggled to impart there passing game on the match. The game was untidy with both teams committing large volumes of fouls and the game suffered from the lack of continuity. Half time came and this provided time for both teams to consolidate and start a fresh.

Atherton started the second half quickly and with Hyde being down to 10 men due to a sin bin incident, they gained momentum and crafted a freekick 25 yards out. Hyde unfortunately defended this very poor and a mix up between the defence and goalkeeper gifted a simple volley to the Atherton full back who converted the chance with ease. This had a positive effect on the Hyde lads and they on the attack. Chance after chance came and went with a number of one on one chances being wasted and a brilliant save from the Atherton keeper kept out a Hyde penalty. The next home game sees Hyde entertain league leaders Newton Heath on Sunday 19th September , 10:30 KO at the Project Solar Stadium.
