A last gasp equalizer earned the tigers a much deserved point away to Lancaster, after a 2-2 draw. The hosts, who could have gone top with victory, were halted thanks to a Tongue strike from outside the area with seconds left to play.

Lancaster started the better and could have gone ahead in the first minute but Dawson’s strike went just wide of the goal. They were ahead rather fortunately as, when Morrison looked to meet the ball to clear away, he misjudged his kick allowing second top goal scorer in the league Norris to place the ball into the back of the net.

Hyde had the much better of the second half constantly putting pressure on the home defence with an array of chances and the impressive partnership that was formed between Sharp and Turner up front, brought the tigers level. Thompson’s long throw into the box was flicked on by Sharp for Turner to poke home at the near post.

As in recent games, mistakes seem to be costing Hyde. Nield, under a bit of pressure on the half way line, turned back towards goal to pass to Mewitt but the pass was wayward, going out behind the goal. The resulting corner was headed in at the far post by Fensome to make it 2-1.

But, the game hadn’t finished there as in the fifth and final minute of injury time, Tongue found room on the edge of the area to fire a shot low and hard which nestled into the bottom corner to send Hyde home with a well-earned point.
